Manuela Dviri
"WOMAN FOR PEACE" Award
Words cannot tell everyday life.
They can help us to understand, because in order to do this we must let the heart go free. And Manuela's heart runs through time, borders, politics, wars and always remains unchangingly that of a mother to whom a disputed land has taken away her child.
Manuela is Italian, indeed Israeli, but she is also Palestinian, and always intensely mother.
So, in fact, about ten thousand children from Palestine can call her that thanks to her and her Saving The Children has had treatment in Israel.
A project to which she dedicates herself and which sees her joined by Israeli and Palestinian doctors.
But this is not the only commitment that moves it. There is the political one that has developed a campaign for life and against any conflict.
Founder of the movement called the "Four Mothers" against the war in Lebanon, she became a leader and her opinion led to national politics being involved.
Manuela does not stop. By now, his personality, his courage, are such as to see her among the "fifty women who have most influenced Israel's life".
Journalist and writer her gaze is always oriented towards mothers. To their needs, to offer an improvement in life.
And here he creates, sponsors, supports, the "Shalom Banot, Salam Banat" movement, which in the two languages means "Peace among women". Producing clothing, made in Palestine and sold in Israel, is a way to give dignity and offer an opportunity.
Our words are too small to describe Manuela.
We try with a hug.
