“ART AND CULTURE FOR THE COMMUNITY” Award

Directing is a strong expression, put inside a scheme which can't be modified. Concretely speaking, it means agreeing to something without admitting any change. However, the meaning radically changes when associated to an orchestra director. And particularly to a woman, who consequently  becomes  a wonderful discovery for adding another connotation to this concept: to her, directing, implies a research for the balance among one another and so an unicum called harmony. Even after the transformation and the acceptation of its meaning, this radical change is still shocking for this male-oriented world, which looks at this with deep astonishement. At an international level, there are many female orchestra conductors; Cinzia Pennesi is one of the active precursors, who operate, conscious of the  attention they catch. Also the great history about theatres in which Cinzia has shown great inspiration and sensitivity has been  particularly relevant to the widespread curiosity. When such intensely involving  initiatives of great committment keep her at distance from the podium, she finds it possible to value any aspect of art; such engagement is honoured by the title of Spokewoman for the Arts. Such a special woman, who has been twice awarded the prestigious Marisa Bellisario Prize, once in 2008 and one in 2018.
