ESOHE AGHATISE
“HUMAN RIGHTS” Award
Fighting slavery requires heroes. Silent heroes, capable of listening, understanding, but above all, acting. And Esohe Aghatise is just that: an acting hero. The U.S. State Department sanctioned this, but even before any recognition, she proved it herself. As a lawyer and as a woman: all her energies, her knowledge, her values converge in what is the cornerstone of her existence. Her first and last goal: fighting against trafficking and exploitation of women and children. By any means and method. And where a method to follow did not yet exist, Esohe built it with the Iroko Association, supporting and assisting the many victims who, in every part of the world, have been reduced to chains. And it doesn’t matter whether these chains are physical or mental, Esohe's commitment to human rights will always seek to break them. So that every human being can regain his or her freedom and grow as strong and proud as a tree. The Iroko tree.
